My new surprising adventure!!

When? June 3rd – 18th 2016

DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY,

I am super excited to share with you an opportunity that has sprung up quite quickly and surprisingly for me this summer! A few weeks ago, my family and I visited South Fellowship Church and I checked a box on the new visitor bulletin about missions. A week later, I got a phone call about a short term prayer trip this summer with a small group of young adults to India! In typical “Susie” fashion, I jumped on the opportunity to experience God’s kingdom in a new country. I met with the leader, Dell McDonald, I shared the opportunity with a few close friends and family, and it was immediately clear that God wanted me to take this opportunity.
My passion for Jesus and His ministry across the world started in Kenya and has since expanded to Costa Rica and Asia. Now God is opening another door for me to visit another part of Asia. Over the past eight years Dell McDonald has worked with South Fellowship’s missionary partners Viju Abraham and his family. Our team of seven will be visiting three cities in central and northern India with the vision of praying for South Fellowship’s current ministry partners, for the people of India and for the country and leadership in India. We will also have a chance to gain an understanding of the culture, history and ministry in India. We will be visiting three cities: Mumbai, New and Old Delhi, Srinagar.
In Mumbai, we will visit and pray with ministry projects in the area, such as Oasis, Vision Rescue and Navjeevan in the Red Light District. In Old Delhi, we will visit downtown Delhi, do a prayer walk through the city, meet ministry leaders and pray for their plans, and pray for India from the prayer tower. In Srinagar, we will see the importance of the river for local life and commerce, meet health care workers to observe efforts to meet the medical needs of people, and meet house church leaders to pray with them. And of course, we will do some tourist-y things like the caves in Mumbai and some other sight-seeing in Colaba and Malabar Hill J.

Thank you for taking a moment to read about my plans for this June! I will keep you all in the loop via Facebook or here on my blog (http://bysusiebissett.blogspot.com/) on this new, exciting adventure.

Heading through Belize!

Here is the map of the route through Belize. So much simpler than our route through Mexico.

This route starts at the Chetumal border crossing from Mexico down the Northern Highway to the Orange Walk Bypass and on into the coastal city of Belize City. From there we will hopefully go on a boat tour of the Great Blue Hole out off the coast of Belize.
From Belize City we go west bound on the Western Highway towards San Ignacio where we will cross into Guatemala at the Melchor de Mencos border crossing.
This will take almost 4 hours of on the road time, but considering we want to take a long break in Belize City, it won't just be a quarter of a day.

On the route through Mexico!

Here is a MAP of the route we want to take across Mexico:

This route starts in Mexicali, Baja California and travels south into Baja California del Sur. We will take a ferry ride from La Paz to Mazatlán, Sinaloa that will take 17-18 hours overnight. From Mazatlán, we will travel down 15 into Jalisco, and then take a rambling path through the central valley through the states of Guanajuato, Queretaro, and Puebla, down into Oaxaca where we will be in the clear of any dangerous zones of the country.
From Oaxaca into Chiapas, through Villahermosa, Campeche, and into the Yucatán, we will finally get to Chicen Itza where we will see beautiful remnants of the Mayan civilization. From Chichen Itza we will hit up Cancun to relax in some nice touristy beaches. From Cancun we will head south through Quintana Roo to the southern border city of Chetumal where we can cross into Belize!
This leg of the trip, according to Google Maps, will take 79 hours, almost 3.5 days. But add in nights when it's dark and we can't drive, tourist time, and eating, and pit stops, that is already up to 6 days! And that's not included unforeseen circumstances....

Photography

People are my favorite to photograph.
People are always different. Always so genuine. So real.
Children hardly ever try to hide who they are.
They are a genuine image of God's love and grace.
The kids of Costa Rica are beautiful.
